We are currently building the infrastructure and foundations of Stardust’s new vision as a cooperative model. This is tedious work, but it is the work that will build longevity for our community! That means, for right now, we’re still in the process of building solid procedures and structures for volunteering. However, if you have any knowledge and expertise that you think might be helpful, have areas of interest or passion that you would like to build with our community, or just believe in the vision of Stardust and want to get involved, please do reach out to us at board@stardustco-op.ca
The best way to find out if you want to get more involved right now is to come out to Stardust events, share your ideas, and get to know the space and the folks who spend time in it. Visit the Events page for a list of upcoming events.Here are the positions we currently need volunteers to fill:
- Governance Committee: We need people who want to help shape/steer the future of Stardust! If that’s you, think about joining our Governance committee
- Chair a Committee: We have some faithful volunteers on the following committees, but we are looking for individuals who are willing to head them up. Committee chairs make sure the committees meet regularly and communicate decisions they have made or concerns they have to the board. Contact us to find out more information. Here are the committees we are looking for chairs:
- Maintenance Committee
- Social Committee
- Accessibility Committee
- Groups Committee
- Tech Committee
We also need people who want to be involved but don’t want to make any decisions – if that’s you, get in touch, and we can explore different ways you can participate. Here are some areas you can volunteer:
- Help running groups [link to groups page]
- Join the maintenance committee and help with keeping our space clean and organized
- Create content and post on our social media.
- Look for grants we might be eligible for, and help us apply for those grants
- Facilitate conversation in Stardust online spaces (currently, we use a Discord server for our communication, but we are working on finding something more accessible),
- Join our social committee and plan social gatherings to strengthen the Stardust community.
